Sapphire Yachting are a recognised Training Centre for Royal Yachting Association with courses from Skiathos in the magnificent area of Sporades.

We operate a 4 cabin GibSea 45 yacht from our base with a variety of courses as detailed below. Although capable of sleeping 12, we only take 5 students at any one time. We guarantee that students will either have their own cabin or share a 2 bunk cabin with someone of the same sex.
The Start yachting course is designed to give complete beginners an introduction to sailing a cruising yacht. During the two days you will be shown how to helm the yacht, trim sails and become a useful member of the crew. It is available over a two-day period which can be arranged to coincide with a shore-based holiday in Skiathos.
The Start Yachting Course counts towards the RYA Competent Crew certificate which can be taken at any RYA Training Centre. Our RYA Competent Crew, Day Skipper and Coastal Skipper Courses are taught over 5 or 6 days although you actually get to spend 7 days on the yacht, hence making the most of your holiday in the sun!
The RYA Competent Crew Course introduces the complete beginner to cruising and teaches personal safety, seamanship and helmsmanship to the level required to be a useful member of a cruising yacht.
The RYA Day Skipper is designed to teach pilotage, navigation, seamanship and boat handling up to the standard required to skipper a small cruising yacht safely by day in non-tidal waters with which the student is familiar. Our RYA Costal Skipper course is an advanced Skippering Course for those with extensive knowledge of sailing and navigation. It is the highest level of non-tidal course under the RYA scheme. You will learn skills needed to Skipper a yacht safely by day or night anywhere in non-tidal waters. The course includes boat handling under power and sail, passage planning and pilotage and extensive night sailing. Whether you are learning to sail with us for the first time, or undertaking a more advanced sailing course you will have the opportunity to sail the fantastic Sporades islands.

Additional Comments
- Courses generally run Saturday to Wednesday with guests arriving on the Friday. Accommodation is included for 7 nights and courses run with a maximum of 5 students which allows for a very comfortable holiday on our larger than average yacht.
- At the end of each RYA 5 day course you will receive a voucher worth £100 off your next charter through us
What's Included
- Fuel, water, port fees, RYA logbooks, bedding, towels and wet weather gear.
- 7 nights on board even though your course may only be for 5 days
- Breakfast, lunch and soft drinks on board for the 5 days of the course. Dinner ashore costs about 12 euros per head with drinks.
